Transmissions and Procrastination…

About a week ago I noticed my car was shifting hard.  Sometimes when I started it in the morning it wouldn’t shift at all.  I’d have to wait for it to warm up before it would even move forward.  I waited for days, arguing with myself that I didn’t have time to get it in the shop, and just hoped the problem would go away.  It didn’t.

I finally put it in the shop yesterday and got a call this morning saying my car was leaking transmission fluid.  The loss of fluid was so bad that it burned up my transmission.  Now I’m facing a possible bill of $2,000 to get it replaced, all because I didn’t take the time to take care of the problem when I should.

It reminds me of life.  And without getting too preachy, or cliche I just want to ask a question.  Are there things in our lives that we need to take care of NOW before the problems get worse?

Please pray for me as I figure out how to pay for a new transmission.  Pray also, that God will cure me of the evil sickness called procrastination.  Anyone else struggle with this horrible disease?

I’m not a big procrastinator except when it comes to cleaning my bathrooms. But, I do sense that my times with God need to be intensified, if that makes sense. Things could get more hectic if they don’t.

I am praying for a miracle right now for you in regards to your car situation! You know I believe in those, sister.

Oh i’m sorry, I just hate those kinds of things. I am also a procrastinator about things that deal with spending money. It makes me sick to have to spend money on repairing things. For instance our dryer went out, my teeth have been bothering me, and i’m also taking my car into the shop today because the heat has not been working and there is a unidentified noise that I need to get taken care of. But all of those things have been going on for awhile and I’m just now taking care of them. I always say I’ll do it when we have more money or when I have more time. Most of the time I wait to long and it ends up costing more money. I have the sickness i’m afraid!

I’ll be honest. I struggled with this in a bad way three years ago. Having problems stopping … hmm … maybe I should get my brakes checked…. When I finally did, it was too late, there were no more brakes … metal on metal… almost $1,000.00. Some of us have to learn things the hard way, it sticks better. I’ll pray for you. Just to let you know…it gets better after you pay the bill. I bring my car into the shop for tunes up and check ups all the time now, ahead of time. :)

Hey we’ll get through this… May we how much it honors God when we are good stewards of our time and resources.

Thank you all so much! I’m praying for a miracle as well!

  • Procrastination sucks!

Ahhhhh I am sorry about your transmission, I wish that I could provide some neat mechanical answer for you like “Anna, just bring it over and I will rebuild it and replace…..” Sorry, I can’t.

“The loss of ….. was so bad that it burned out the ….”

I hope the place who is repairing it takes care of you!

  • I’d like to comment on this topic, but I’m a lil busy right now. Is it OK if I get to it later? What? Somebody had to say it! (grin)

    Here’s how to beat procrastination….

    Well, I’ll tell you later.

(I’m sorry about your car. I feel your pain. Been there!)
