Friday quotes…

I thought I’d take a break from the insecurity stuff for today and pull a quote out of my quote journal.  This one rocks!

“It is only after you’ve lost everything, that you’re free to do anything.”–Tyler Durtan Fight Club

How many of you have seen the movie, Fight Club?  What do you think this quote means for you?

  • I know of a couple of people that this is their favorite movie! I don’t even think I’ve seen it. But, I’m seeing the effects of this quote lived out in your own life. Seems like a truth! 😉 Goes along with “nothing to loose and EVERYTHING to gain!” See you Monday!

  • 1/2 anna meadows,

    I do better with songs.

“Freedom’s just another word for nothin’ left to lose
And nothin’ ain’t worth nothin’, but it’s free”
Kris Kristofferson – Me and Bobby McGee

“When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose. You’re invisible now, you got no secrets to conceal”
Bob Dylan – Like a Rolling Stone.

I have never seen the movie fight club, but this is a great quote. I think it means to me, that once you have lost all the things you think matter in this world, you are free in your heart to be yourself. “Cause I am free to run, I am free to dance, I am free to live for You!”

  • Sarah says:

With the loss of everything there is only one direction to be found UP and in that there is truly found freedom (Hosea 2)

  • Katie says:

To me it means that when you’re caught up in all of the things of this world like social rules, greed and material things then you are just that, caught and in bondage to them. When you have none of those things, or aren’t focused on them then you are free and your eyes are open to what is really important.

I don’t think that is what they meant in the movie. Don’t get me wrong, good movie but it is definitely twisted.

as weird and disturbing as it was, i loved the movie… its such a thinker.

for the quote. its simple. when we aren’t tied down to anything, our life is nothing but potential. the sky is the limit
