Love covers a multitude of sins... when we love and encourage it causes people to be uplifted and know what is good, right, or encouraged! Yea for encouragement... Not if it only worked for preteen boys! Maybe one day:)

I think for years I nagged my parents to become something they didnt want to be. I pushed and pride and insisted that they become believers. It wasnt until I stopped doing this and just started to love them for were they are and not for were they could be that I made the most difference. I gave it up and gave it to God. I realize now that by doing this I am made a huge diffence.

So I guess if I had to reword your quote, it would be, "People have a way of becoming what you encourage them to be, not what you nag them not to be."

My boss is the kind of person whose only motivational tool is to appeal to a person's desire not to be chewed out. I've never heard him compliment anyone on the job they do. It's a basic understanding that you only talk to / hear from Bob (he works in OKC) if you did something wrong.

He sort of expects you to act right so you don't have to get griped out.

The problem is, for me anyway, I've become completely numb to ummm... chewings. They don't bother me. He could sit there and tell me I was the worst engineer in the history of Halliburton, and honestly, it wouldn't motivate me at all. (Probably because that's how I learned to get along with my dad was to just ignore all his negativity).

I've been at this company two years, and ONCE have I had someone tell me I do a good job (I write a pretty mean post-job report). And he wasn't my boss. And it's not because I don't do a good job.

But that one time when a salesman called me up to tell me I do a good post job report was the highlight of my job last year.

I absolutely LOVE this quote! Blake hit a bit of a rough patch... just doesn't seem to care about anything having to do with school. But... we've been talking and I think he's on the road back... So this quote is very appropriate for our current situation. Thanks Anna! :) Miss You!
