Pro-NUN-ciation
My friend was telling me about what happened to her at a recent parent/teacher conference. The teacher was calling the students’ name: Le-a (She pronounced it “Leah”, just like it looks like it should sound…)
But after the mom got up in the teacher’s face, my friend quickly realized that it was NOT the correct pronunciation of her child’s name…
Le-a is pronounced LeDASHa… as in, the dash is NOT silent!
Wow…

That is a little strange. I will leave it at that.
Oh my word. I’ve heard a lot of funny name stories from schools and hospitals, but that’s headed to the top of my list!
Thanks for making my Boeing team laugh!
Good stuff! Feel for the girl, though.
I don’t see how she should have been responsible for knowing how to pronounce that! Seriously the names people come up with. Poor kid. . .
I know… poor kid… I’ve had quite a laugh with this all day!!
Ooo, those mad mamas! I thought the dash was silent too. =)
I can’t talk…I named my girl Zoi as in Zoey not Zo I. She was mad at us for not spelling it the right way. I told her that we did that because she is special.
Hilarious!
Aaron, you could have named Zoi “Special” instead. I’ve actually met Special at Anna’s campus! Wonder how her brothers and sisters handle that one!
hehehe!
I have heard it all now.
