You’ve Got a Friend in Me–4

Vince Parker

Vince is my co-worker, partner in crime, my fellow “Ass” (ASSociate youth pastor, at the N-dub!) Vince’s presence is truly influencing. He has that amazing ability that when he walks into a room he immediately draws the respect of everyone there. His 6 foot, 5 in stature isn’t the only thing that demands this respect, but it’s the way he lives his life.

I’ve only really known Vince for a couple months. But in those months he has taught me the invaluable lesson to always:

  • Live with Integrity

Vince loves Jesus more than anything else in this world, and it shows by the way he lives his life. He’s not one person at church, and another person at home.  He’s the same person no matter who is watching. He lives his life by the Word of God, diligently spends time with the Lord, with his wife and his daughter, showing that family is very important to him. He stays accountable to friends, and has even asked a couple, to mentor him and his wife.

I admire Vince for his integrity. I am so thankful to call him my friend and my brotha, from anotha motha!

What about you? Do you know Vince? Does his integrity inspire you? Do you feel you live with integrity, or is that an area you struggle in? Share your thoughts!

  • Oh good question. I’m at a place in my life where I’m realizing that I’ve lived all my life worrying about surviving it more than anything else. And that I’ve achieved that. And that I don’t know what to do next. So I’m trying to think about that. Living with integrity, now there’s a thought. I have to ask what the struggle is for you or Vince though. Isn’t that part of the whole alien package?

  • Vince shares my birthday…and he’s our newest son. :)

Vince is real…he’s passionate about Jesus, and he loves his daughter, his wife and his peppermint candy. I look forward to serving with him each Wednesday and to getting to know him even better!

Does it say something about my cousin Vinny that everyone has some sort of nickname or special joke with him? He not only lives with integrity but he connects with people out of that genuiness in a special way. Definitely the perfect addition to our leadership. The three of you together have messed into something that works really well.

  • My Vince is Roland Haney. I have been around Roland off and on and this man never changes. He has a heart for God and service that inspires everyone around him. I think this calling consumes his every thought so much that internally he never feels he is doing enough. The rest of us look at him and say, “How does he do so much” and then we seek to do more knowing that if Roland can do it–I can do at least a piece of it too.

David–That is so awesome to know someone so inspiring!
Hope–I agree. Vince is a great addition to our team!
Robin–He really does like his peppermints!
Jimmy–It’s part of the alien package because we are saved by grace but still sinners like everyone else… striving to live with integrity is just part of being a Christ follower

I get a big smile on my face when Vince comes around. It is because of his imposing stature but with such a gentle spirit. I guess that comes from his changing heart towards Jesus. He’s great with the kids at Switch and will influence so many in the course of his lifetime.

Not only is Vince full of integrity, he is hot!

Jeremy, I didn’t need to know you thought that about Vince. I adore Vince, he’s an amazing addition to the N0-Dub SWITCH team and has an amazing ability to just connect with anyone. He isAMAZING!

Great stuff Anna! Totally agree. Got to catch up with Vince last week. Just through our phone conversation you can truly sense his passion for Christ. He also isn’t a bad guy to have around for a bouncer. 😉 :)
